Marc Woodard and his family have a long history in Tigard, Oregon.  Marc recently served on the Tigard City Council with Tigard Rotary Club member, Marland Henderson, and his grandfather, Edward Woodard was the second Mayor of Tigard in the 1960’s.

Mr. Woodard has an MBA and a BS Exercise Science which he leveraged to follow his passion for fitness.  He founded MirrorAthlete Corporation, a free informational Website targeting wellness, healthy lifestyle, fitness and nutrition, and consumer safety awareness.   He is also the author of Ageless MirrorAthlete; Overweight and Unfit No More.

In the book, “I show you information that the marketplace won’t because of profit.”  Marc explained his desire to expose the “lies and half-truths” promulgated by the health, agriculture, sports, and pharmaceutical industries.  His areas of expertise include ill-health prevention, customized fitness programming, health and fitness literacy, childhood development, active adult fitness, and community wellness. He noted that one-third of children in the US are obese.  Adverse childhood experiences cause stress and trauma and lead to habits associated with health risks, such as depression, drug addiction, and overeating, among others.

Marc is also a member of the Tigard Recreation Committee, a non-profit organization that seeks to raise money necessary to purchase the land and build a community recreation center.  The TRC is a grassroots organization dedicated to improving health, education, welfare, and social opportunities for youth, adults, seniors, and families in our area.  Recent studies show that “Active Adults” prefer aging in place and want to live where there are recreational opportunities.  Marc continued by noting that Baby Boomers, the largest and wealthiest group of Americans, spend an average of $40,000 per year on leisure and recreation.
