Kim Morris announced an Intercambio Student College Mentoring event on March 19th, from 1:30 – 2:45 PM, at the Tigard High School Library

Gina Cobb announced that there will be a Club Membership Committee meeting on March 21st, right after Rotary Meeting, 1:15-1:45 PM.

Gina Cobb also announced the March Rotary Book Club Meeting will be on Sunday, March 31st from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Julie Ketchum’s Home, 14830 SW Hawk Ridge Road, Tigard.

Grace Kuto reminded members of the African Concert Benefit at Tigard High School on April 1st starting at 7:00 PM, which will feature medical guests from Kenya, the THS Choir, an African Children Dance Troupe, and African Singers. (Suggested donation – $10).

Grace Kuto also invited members to the Annual African Dinner Benefit for Medical Training at Chwele, to be held on April 6th, starting at 6:00 PM, at the Tigard Community Friends Church, 15800 SW Hall Blvd. The program will feature stories from Kenyan medical visitors, Marianne Sarwinkel, MD and Mr. Reuben Waswa, Physician Assistant. (Suggested donation – $50).

Grace explained that this year, they are raising funds to complete renovation of the Chwele Health Clinic ($5,000), modify a Community Center to add classroom space for a new medical training campus at Chwele ($30,000), and hire a Director to oversee all development projects in healthcare, education and small businesses ($15,000).

President Jacob Pilling reminded members that the Rose and Wine sale is coming up, with deliveries scheduled for April 25th. Members are encouraged to sell at least twelve boxes of a dozen roses and/or bottles of Horseleap Vineyards wine, or make a donation to the Foundation of $100 in lieu of selling.

Dan Murphy announced that the Scholastic Achievement Banquet will be held on May 5th, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Wilsonville. Dan is looking for sponsors for 30 tables, at $100/table. Please contact Jim Strickler if you would like to sponsor a table.

Melody Stone announced that she now has host families for the Friendship for Peace program. We have 5 pairs of students from Cypress, and 3 pairs of students from Israel/Palestine, coming in July. Melody asks that members contact her if they can help entertain these students during the day while they are staying here.

Jacob Pilling also announced that we need sponsors for the 10 Grands in the Diamond concert, coming up on August 10th at the Ron Tonkin Stadium in Hillsboro.

Rowland French reported on the meeting he had with interested members about the Club’s future international projects. Rowland said they are focusing on projects in Kenya and Guatemala.
