The board of directors met before the meeting and is working on next year’s budget.

The Installation Banquet and Golf Tournament will be on Thursday, June 29 at Red Tail.  Golf will be a four-person scramble.  Friends and associates are welcome to participate.  The theme for this year’s banquet will be Hats!  Cost is $39 for spouses/guests; Club members are free.  Start thinking about what you will do to stand out from the crowd!

The Escape Room is moving to a new location and the social event has been postponed until after the move.

The Tigard Festival of Balloons will be on June 23 – 25.  Please sign up for a shift or two.  Friends and family members are welcome to volunteer, too.  Our club received $7,000 from the City of Tigard for taking and selling tickets at the gate.  We can get help from other non-profit groups, but this reduces the amount we raise for our club.  All volunteers receive free admission and parking for the weekend’s events.  New this year, due to FAA regulations balloons will launch from the opposite side of the soccer fields.  21 balloons will participate in this year’s event.

Bob Davidson is collecting money for rose sales.  Please pay for your sales or donations ASAP so that Bob can tally up this year’s take.

Six, $2,000 scholarships were awarded to THS students at the recent Achievement Banquet.  Tigard Rotary has given some $300,000 in scholarships over the years.

Grace Kuto announced that cultural homestay participants from China will be needing volunteer opportunities.  They are required to volunteer for 4 hours per day, 5 days per week for each month they are here.  Contact Grace at District 5100 for more information.

This week’s book:  “Good people: the only leadership decision that really matters” by Anthony Tjan

From Publisher:

“Based on the viral Harvard Business Review article, bestselling author Anthony Tjan argues that leaders have a new imperative: you must have competent people on your team–but more importantly, they must also be of high character. As a leader you need to help develop and mentor for character further. Until now, we have only had ways of assessing competency in business, but we must also have the tools to help us judge, develop, and lead good people.”
