Visitors to the meeting included District Governor Tom Marcos and his wife, Nancy, Assistant District Governor Jo Krenshaw, and Jessica from the Tualatin Rotary Club.  Rose Browning from the Good Neighbor Center stood in for Jack Schwab.

Thanks to Kim for organizing the Sanford Inouye Putt Putt Tournament last Saturday.  26 people attended the event.

Ten Grands on the Green is this Sunday!  Jacob still needs help scanning tickets.  We also need a group of people to strike the chairs immediately following the concert.  Please let Jacob know if you know of a youth group, Boy or Girl Scout Troop, or other group that would be willing to do this for us.  All volunteers should report to the event at 3:15 for briefing.

As of today we are expecting 1800 – 1900 people to attend the Ten Grands event.

Rose Browning reported that sponsors are needed to purchase shoe gift cards for the annual Back-to-School party.  One gift card costs $20 and checks should be made out to the local foundation.  A sign up sheet was circulated.

Rob reported that the Tigard Balloon Fest broke an attendance record: as of Saturday night more than 22,000 people had come through the gates.  He expects the festival to continue to grow.  Our club received a check for $7,000 from the City of Tigard for helping at the event.  Thanks to Rob who has spearheaded the volunteer effort for the past 5 years.

Bill Monahan made a donation to the local foundation in honor of his recent birthday.  Ed Murphy made a donation in honor of a recent fishing trip to Ketchikan during which he reeled in a very large salmon.  His son pulled in a 100 pound halibut!

Sergeant Conrad Pepper outdid himself by sporting a 1960’s era Beatles costume in honor of the famous song.  In keeping with the 1960’s theme that ushered in the current Rotary year, members of the club presented Gov. Marcos with an armload of gifts, including: a rotary phone, a statue of Fred Flintstone, Troll dolls, a Julia Child cookbook and pastries, a lunch box holding a spam and Wonder Bread sandwich, chips, Oreos, and 15 cents milk money, a 1902-style 6-pack of Coca Cola, a string of Pillsbury Dough Boy lights, an Engelbert Humperdinck album, and a poster of Che Guevara.

Conrad was honored by District Governor Marcos as a Rotarian All-Star for his service to Rotary and the community.  Way to go, Conrad!
