She, in turn, presented President Rob Musante with a Rotary flag from Esperanza, Argentina.  Courtney’s parents were also in attendance.

We welcomed returning Rotarian visitor, Lazaro, and potential Rotarian, Matt who is looking for a service club to join.  Exchange student, Charlotte from Austria, and former exchange student, Isabela from Brazil also attended.

Isabela thanked everyone who hosted her during her 2 week visit.  She would be catching a flight back to Brazil on Friday.

Sydney from Rotaract was at the meeting to pick up several bags of shoes that were donated for the Soles to Souls project.  Sydney said that Rotaract had already collected 500 pairs and would happily add them to the coffer.  The shoes will be delivered to the Vancouver drop off location on Saturday.

Jacob announced that plans for Ten Grands on the Green are well underway and a major sponsor has already been secured.  Additional sponsors, at various levels, are still needed and information can be found on the Ten Grands website or by contacting Jake.   In response, Jack Schwab offered a donation from the Good Neighbor Center.  Ticket sales for Ten Grands will start in March.

The monthly raffle was awash with gift cards from Cabela’s, Peet’s Coffee, La Provence, and others.  The happy winners were Marty, Stuart, Ed, and two guests.

Jim Sanders had a mild heart attack and is in the hospital, but will be coming home soon.

Steve Schmitt is engaged!

Rob announced that the club would hold a raffle for 500 Paul Harris points.  Members can buy one chance each for a donation of $10 to the International Foundation.  He also said that our club is on-track to receive a Rotary Presidential Citation.

Jeff Yarnall recapped his year as club president.  The international convention was held in San Antonio in the height and heat of the summer of 2001.  Our inbound exchange student that year was from Italy.  Jeff was challenged to find a new meeting location when the then current location raised its rates.  Instead of books, solar powered calculators were given to guest speakers.  The club also weathered the devastating events of September 11.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
