We had the esteemed pleasure of having our club members Conrad Pearson and Bonnie Conger be our guest speakers. Conrad started out with donating $100 to the club, because he felt like was he was about advertise his business, Pearson Financial. Featured in the front of a very savvy financial magazine along with fifteen other advisors around the country was a well-deserved and great honor for Pearson Financial. Shortly after publication William Shatner called wanting to do a special taping with Conrad about Pearson Financial. Conrad agreed to do it as long as the money they were planning to pay him would go to his Charity, “100 Strong Aurora”. They agreed to do it this way although it was the first time anyone has asked for the money to go to a charity. Bonnie Conger and Conrad Pearson flew down to Studio City to film with William Shatner.

Bonnie was a big help getting 100 Strong Aurora started.

What is 100 Strong?

It is a program based on the principles of love God above everything and love your neighbor as yourself. Participants-preferably middle and high school students-go out into their communities to find a person, family or organization that needs assistance.

It is held annually on the second weekend in August in various Portland-Metro area and elsewhere in the state.

Year 1: The program is funded largely through anonymous donation and matching money. Year 1 students accepted two $50 bills. They keep one for themselves or decide to give all $100 away to help someone or an organization in need.

Year 2: They raise $50 on their own, which will be matched to do the same as above.

Year 3: They raise the full $100 and use the money to help someone less fortunate.

Year 4: They raise $100 to give away, in addition to $100 of their own money, in the order to start the process over again by encouraging and/or mentoring another person to help others.
