Volunteers are still needed to take tickets on Friday and Saturday nights for the Tigard Balloon Festival.  Rob Musante showed a map of the festival grounds at Cook Park, including a view of the new launch area.  Tethering (a kind of balloon ride wherein the balloon is attached to the ground by a rope) begins at 6 AM each day of the festival, weather permitting.  Balloons cannot launch if the wind is coming from the south because that would blow the balloons into the city.  Balloons cannot launch in the rain.  The annual fund raiser brings about $7,000 into our club and enables us to fund programs throughout the year.

Cheron Calder  presented a Service Above Self award to Bob Davidson for his behind-the-scenes work on the Rose Sale, Salvation Army, printing services, and other club projects.

There are still spots open for duffers to join the fun at the annual Golf Tournament.  Let Jeff Tainer know if you want to participate.  Gina Cobb needs a final count next week for the Installation Banquet.

There are only 51 days until Ten Grands on the Green, the club’s biggest fund raiser of the year.  Andrea announced that we are on track to make a profit from this year’s event.  The proceeds support programs throughout the year, such as Operation Warm, Holiday Food Baskets, High School Scholarships, etc.   Additional sponsors are needed for the event; please work your contacts.  Sponsorships start at $500 and ads start at $125.  Please also sign up to visit one of the 43 Rotary clubs in the area to help publicize the event.  Printed materials will be available next week.  You can also share the event on Facebook.

News from exchange students: Ervanny attended the District Conference and Starlight Parade.  Ethan received his certification in informational technology by doing an internship at Lam Research.  Evan set a person record in the long-jump at nearly 20 feet.  Isha and Sabrina will graduate from THS tomorrow night.  Isha has been accepted into a college program that operates at three different campuses; in Singapore, Dubai, and Australia.  She will be leaving Tigard on June 14.

Ed Murphy presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Isha for completing her exchange.  She will be missed.
