The Event:

Tigard’s Festival of Balloons is a non-profit organization that raises funds for many non-profit groups in Tigard while providing a premier family event for the entire community. There are balloon launches each morning and lots of shopping and entertainment throughout the day and evening- including the Night Glow. To learn more about the event go to: www.tigardballoon.org.

Rotary’s Part

Since 1999, the Rotary Club of Tigard has partnered with, and provided assistance for, the Tigard Festival of Balloons. Our club is only one of many non-profits that help make the festival run effectively. The festival itself is a non-profit organization that has been going for several decades and is supported by many businesses including Nicoli’s Grill and Sports Bar (where we have our weekly meetings). We also partner with Portland’s Rotaract Club to help fill slots and share revenue.

Fundraising

Our club organizes individuals to staff the three entry points to the event and process ticket sales. In exchange for covering the gates, our club receives around $7,000 each year in return.

How You Can Help

Throughout the event there are many shifts to cover. Be sure to volunteer to help cover as many shifts as you can. Most members make a half day of it and then attend the event the other part of the day. The amount of money we receive correlates to the number of shifts we can cover- thus, the more we cover, the more we can earn. Shifts run from 5am to 10pm Friday and Saturday and 5am to 4pm on Sunday; typically in 3-hour shifts.
