President Bill Monahan announced that Diane Noriega was chosen to serve as District Governor for District 5100 in 2019-2020. Diane Noriega belongs to the Gresham Rotary Club. According to a District 5100 Facebook post, “Diane is a retired higher education administrator from California State University in Monterey Bay. She served as interim president, Provost, and V.P. of Academic Affairs, among other positions. Diane has been a Rotarian since 2005 when she joined the Rotary Club of Marina in Monterey Bay. She is the current president of Gresham Rotary and also served as 2012-13 president. She has also been District 5100 Membership Chair for three years.”

President Bill Monahan also announced that the members of the District 5100 Peace Rotarian Action Group are planning to promote peace awareness by “planting” 100 Peace Poles in April of 2017. He would like to see the Tigard Rotary Club plant one or more of these poles in Tigard. (According to the website http://peacepoleproject.org, a Peace Pole is “a hand-crafted monument that displays the message and prayer May Peace Prevail on Earth on each of its four or six sides, usually in different languages. There are tens of thousands of Peace Poles in 180 countries all over the world dedicated as monuments to peace. They serve as constant reminders for us to visualize and pray for world peace”).
