[vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Visiting Rotarian, Steve Pickering from Tucson, AZ spoke briefly about his home club that, with the 2:1 matching support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, raised $11.3 million last year for Polio Plus.  WOW!

Carolina Ekdesman visited from Oaxaca, Mexico.  Carolina was Tigard Rotary’s exchange student in 1999.  After returning home, she obtained a degree in business and will soon go to Spain to complete a master’s degree.

Jacob Pilling announced that the new club website is up and running.  A few features are still missing and will be added in the weeks to come.  Thanks, Jacob!

Jacob also noted that ticket sales for Ten Grands on the Green have improved and that the outlook is good for the July 25th event.  Volunteers are still needed; sign up if you have not already done so.  All volunteers will receive a free ticket to the event.

Outbound exchange student, Sabrina McKenzie visited Willamette University last week.  She also received the results of her ACT and SAT exams and “did better than I thought.”  She will be leaving for Japan on August 24th.

Ever generous, Birol and Susan Yesilada donated $100 each to the local foundation in honor of their grandson and daughter, respectively, who were guests at the meeting.

Finally, Sergeant-at-Arms for the day, Jim Strickler announced that Broadway Rose’s production of Thoroughly Modern Millie was underway.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
