Last week, Dan Murphy was honored for being chosen Tigard’s First Citizen by the Chamber of Commerce.  Several club members remarked that they had been unaware of just how much Dan does for others in our community.  For 25 years, he has been the general manager of the Broadway Rose Theater which, as Stuart put it, brought a bit of New York to Tigard at a time when culture was not readily available in our neck of the woods.    Jack remarked that he sits on the board of a philanthropic organization that gives grants to arts organizations, the second highest of which always goes to the Broadway Rose.  According to the press release, “for the last 20+ years, Dan has been engaged in the fabric of the Tigard community on a variety of volunteer levels including Tigard Rotary (14 years), Tigard Chamber Board of Directors (8 years), Tigard Senior Center Meals on Wheels Volunteer (6+ years), Tigard Tualatin School District (TTSD) (14 years), Washington County Visitors Association (2 years), Tigard High Scholastic Achievement Banquet (13 years), Community Partners for Affordable Housing (7 years) and the Tigard Downtown Task Force (2 years).  Knighted as a Royal Rosarian in August 2015 and board member of Portland Area Theatre Alliance for the last 3 years, Dan has helped increase the visibility of Tigard within the Portland Metro area.”  Dan really walks the Rotary walk.  Congratulations, Dan!
